今回は、私が創業したアルー株式会社についてお話をさせてください。

当社の事業内容を紹介するというのではなく、当社がどのような思いで、何を目指しているのか、というストーリーをお伝えさせて頂き、このようなストーリーに共感いただける方と是非とも一緒に新しい未来を創っていきたいという思いでお話致します。

教育の民主化

アルー株式会社としての主体的真理にあたるものは、「夢が溢れる世界のために、人のあらゆる可能性を切り拓きます」という当社の経営理念・ミッションです。

創業当社から、ミッション・ヴィジョン・バリューという形で経営理念を表現してきており、ミッションは主体的真理、ヴィジョンは中長期的に実現する将来像、バリューは共有したい価値観、という定義をしています。

これらの経営理念を旅路として喩えるならば、ミッションは旅路として目指して生きたい方向としての北極星、ヴィジョンは旅路の中長期的なゴールとなる到達地点、バリューは旅路の船のボーディングメンバー間で共有したい価値観ということになります。

創業当初（当時は、エデュ・ファクトリーという会社名でした）は、「次世代のパイオニア人材を育成する」というのが当社のミッションでした。パイオニア人材というは、新しい時代を切り拓くような人材という意味であり、日本が今後継続的に発展・成長していくためには、パイオニア人材が必要だという思いから来るものでした。

社会人向けの教育事業を運営しながら、「教育とは一体何だろうか？」という問いを考え続けていました。その時に、「パイオニア人材を育成する」というミッションや思いは大切にしながらも、もっと多くの、もっと身近な人たちの役に立てるような教育のあり方があるのではないかと思ったのです。

特定の一部の人のための教育ではなく、多くの人、世界中の人たちのための教育、大げさに言えば「教育の民主化」です。

そのように考えると「パイオニア人材を育成する」というミッションには、少し違和感を覚えるようになりました。この違和感が、アルー株式会社としての主体的真理がこれまでとは違う形で新しい産声をあげる胎動となります。

「もっと多くの人にとって身近な人の役に立つ」ということはどういうことだろうか、ということを当時のアルーの有志メンバーで対話を重ねていきました。その中で紡ぎ出された主体的真理の新しい表現が「夢が溢れる世界のために、人のあらゆる可能性を切り拓きます」です。

教育の本質は、選択肢を与えること

「夢が溢れる世界」というのは、ひとり一人が主体的真理に生きている社会。そして、そういう人たちがたくさんいて、主体的真理に生きるお互いの姿を見て、いい影響を及ぼし合っている、いい刺激を与え合ってる、そういう社会のイメージです。

プロ野球選手が大リーグで活躍する姿をみて、自分もプロ野球選手になりたい、大リーグで活躍したいと子どもが思って、その実現の道を歩む。自分が通った保育園の保育士さんに憧れて、保育士さんの道を歩む。

これらは、とても微笑ましい、日常的に目にすることができる光景です。しかし、そのような光景が、大人になっても持ち続けることができているかどうか、という点に大きな課題意識を持っています。

別のNOTEで詳しくお話したいと思っていますが、大人になるにつれて、社会や組織に適合しなければいけないという考えや「常識」に捉われがちになり、主体的真理に生きるということが、どこか幻想的な、虚無的な感じがしてしまう。そんな現実もあるのではないでしょうか。

子どもであっても、大人であっても、どんな仕事についていても、どんな境遇の人であっても、その人の主体的真理に生きることができる社会でありたい、私はそう思います。

そのように、ひとり一人が主体的真理に生きるときに何が必要なんだろうかと考えたときに、主体的真理に気づき、その主体的真理とつながりながら生きていくための十分な選択肢があるということ、そして、その選択肢の中から自分で納得をして選択することができるということが、大切なことなのではないかと。

選択肢を与えることが、まさに教育の本質なのだろう。

アルーは、このような思いで事業をしている会社であり、多くの人が主体的真理に生きている社会を実現していくために、ひとり一人の人に多くの可能性、選択肢を提供するべく教育を提供するという会社です。

このような会社の理念、会社としての主体的真理から考えたときに、創業からこれまで17年間で培ってきたものを、当社の中、あるいは当社の直接のお客様の中だけに限って提供していくというのでは、少し物足りない。

私個人としてのストーリーだけではなく、アルー株式会社としてのストーリーとしても、これまで培ってきたものを、少しでも多くの人に知ってもらえるように発信をさせていただいて、そこに共感、共鳴いただける方と一緒に新しいものを創り出していきたいと思っています。

(Extra Edition) The story of Alue Corporation

In this article, I'm not talking about myself, but let me tell you about the company I founded, Alue Corporation.

Rather than introducing our business, I will tell you the story of what we are about and what we aim to achieve, and I hope that we can create a new future together with people who empathize with this story.

The democratization of education

The subjective truth of Alue Corporation is our management philosophy and mission: "For a world full of dreams, we open up all the possibilities for people."

Since our founding, we have expressed our management philosophy in the form of Mission, Vision, and Values, with Mission being the subjective truth, Vision being the future vision we want to achieve in the medium to long term, and Values being the values we want to share.

If these management philosophies are expressed in a metaphor of a journey, Mission is the North Star as the direction we want to aim for on our journey, Vision is the medium- to long-term goal of it, and Values are the values we want to share among the boarders of the ship on the journey.

In the early days of Alue (which was then called Edu-Factory), our mission was to develop the next generation of pioneers. The term "Pioneers" refers to people who will open up a new era, and our mission was based on the belief that pioneers are necessary for Japan to continue to develop and grow in the future.

While running an education business for working adults, I wondered what education was all about. Then it occurred to me that there is a different way of educating people that is not just for a specific group of people, but that can help many more people who want to take opportunities to grow.

It is not an education for a specific group of people, but an education for many people around the world, or to put it bluntly, "the democratization of education."

When I think about it in this way, I feel a little uncomfortable with the mission of "developing the next generation of pioneers". This sense of discomfort is the impetus for the subjective truth as Alue Corporation to give birth to a new, different expression of it.

Alue Corporation's volunteer members at the time held a series of dialogues about what it meant to be useful to more people in their daily lives. The new expression of the subjective truth that emerged from this dialogue is: "For a world full of dreams, we open up all the possibilities for people."

The essence of education is to provide possibilities and options

"A world full of dreams" is a society in which each person is living the subjective truth. It is an image of a society in which there are many such people, who see each other living in subjective truth and influence and inspire each other in a positive way.

When a child sees a professional baseball player playing in the major leagues, he or she wants to be a professional baseball player and play in the major leagues too, and he or she might take the way to achieve it.  A child admiring  the nursery school teachers he or she went to, might walk the path to becoming a nursery school teacher.

These are very pleasant scenes that we could see on a daily basis. However, I have a great sense of challenge in whether or not we can continue to carry those sights with us into adulthood.

I'd like to talk more about this in another NOTE, but as we grow up, we tend to get caught up in "the common sense" that we have to conform to society and organizations, and living in subjective truth feels somewhat illusory and nihilistic. I think that's part of our reality.

I would like to see a society in which people can live in their own subjective truth, no matter what their job or circumstances, whether they are children or adults.

When we think about what is necessary for each person to live in the subjective truth, it is important to sense his or her own subjective truth, to have enough options to live in connection with that subjective truth, and to be able to make a choice from among those options with his or her own consent. I believe that this is the essence of education.

Providing people a variety of opportunities and options to take is the very essence of education.

Alue is a company that operates with this concept in mind, providing education to help each person have many possibilities and choices in order to realize a society in which many people live in their subjective truth.

Considering the philosophy of the company and the subjective truth of the company, it would be a bit unsatisfactory if we were to offer what we have developed over the past 17 years since the company's founding only within our company or among our direct customers.

Not only my personal story, but also the story of Alue Corporation, I would like to share our story with as many people as possible, and create something new together with those who sympathize with our story.
